FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Questions, Answered

WHY DOES MY PET NEED TO SEE A REHABILITATION SPECIALIST?

The clients who seek us out are looking for more than a general veterinary practitioner can provide. They want a precise diagnosis and treatment plan. They want more options for pain management beyond pills.  They want to optimize their pet's recovery after surgery or injury so the pet can return to an active lifestyle.  They want to help their senior pet age gracefully.

Above all, they want to be heard and valued as a team partner to help their pet live a longer, pain-free, happy life.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST VISIT?

After thoroughly reviewing your pet's medical history, we will get to work evaluating your pet's mobility and pain level! We complete a gait and functional analysis, myofascial, musculoskeletal, and neurological exams.

We obtain measurements of joint range of motion, muscle mass, weight, weight bearing status of the limbs, and functional scoring. This helps us track your pet's improvement with treatment.

Next, after discussing our initial findings with you, we will obtain diagnostics if indicated (x-rays or ultrasound, for example).

Once we have all the pieces of the puzzle, we will sit down and discuss our clinical findings, treatment options, expectations of recovery, and finally the cost involved with our plan.

We focus on clear communication and education to help guide you in the important decisions for your pet's health.

WILL YOU COLLABORATE WITH MY PRIMARY VETERINARIAN OR OTHER SPECIALIST THAT CARE FOR MY PET?

Yes! We are committed to collaborating with your veterinarian to ensure that your pet receives the best possible care. We provide your veterinarian, surgeon, and neurologist with the initial examination findings and treatment plan and keep them updated after every follow-up evaluation. Additionally, we share lab results, x-rays, and medication adjustments with them.

I WORK FULL TIME, HOW DO I HELP MY PET GET THE CARE THEY NEED?

We offer early morning day admissions. You can bring your pet to our facility as early as 7:00 am. They will receive treatment and can be picked up during lunch or anytime before 5 pm. Please note that there is an additional fee for pets that require a day admission.

CAN YOU BE MY PRIMARY VETERINARIAN? IT WOULD MAKE IT SO CONVENIENT!

No. We are a specialty practice with a limited focus of care. We do not offer general veterinary medicine care such as vaccines, parasite prevention, ear treatment, anal gland expression, etc.  You will need to see your primary veterinarian for these issues. However, if we note a problem we will be sure to let you know so that you can follow up with your veterinarian.
